In 2015, with LEAF’s support, a new creation care group, Blessed Earth Tennessee, was formed to carry on the faith-based work that LEAF began in 2005.

Big Changes for LEAF
LEAF (Lindquist Environmental Appalachian Fellowship) was founded in 2005 by Dawn Coppock and Patricia Hudson to raise awareness among Tennessee’s faith communities about earth stewardship, particularly the issue of mountain top removal coal mining which has devastated large sections of Appalachia.
LEAF’s goal was to urge congregations of all different denominations, ranging from the most conservative to the most liberal, to take action to honor and protect God’s creation. By addressing caring for the earth as a faith-based issue, Coppock and Hudson sought to build bridges between denominations so that people of faith could act together to address critical environmental issues.
After nine years of providing free creation care materials to churches across Tennessee, as well as advocating for protection of Tennessee’s mountains in the Tennessee Legislature, Coppock and Hudson have decided to focus their energies elsewhere. They are both on the Board of the newly created Blessed Earth Tennessee, and Hudson will continue to serve on the Steering Committee for Christians for the Mountains. They are deeply grateful to all of LEAF’s supporters, and want them to know that the dialogues, both political and faith-based, that LEAF helped foster will continue through the organizations highlighted above.
Thanks so much for ten amazing years!
